This is Peaches eating his dinner Monday night.  This same dinner ended up my pants and hand about two hours ago… Thank you Peaches! ;-)

Okay, Seriously?
You miss the first week of classes in a semester when EVERY class has a waiting list. You show up over half an hour late and you want me to sign your schedule to be put back in an over-full class. You don’t bring anything with you.  Not paper, not a pencil, nothing. You are unwilling to sit through today’s class. You are unwilling to wait five minutes while I help students who...

I need to do the Pai Da Qi Gong more often
It is doing a nice mix of rain and snow right now, so the dog walk was called off this morning.  I don’t mind walking in this, but driving in sand while it is precipitating is as pad as driving on a sheet of ice.  Wait to minutes after it stops and you are good, but don’t try it while the rain is coming down. So, instead, I did an arm workout while the dogs napped. ;-)  Then I decided...

Scitchet Knits (and everything else): Quesadilla... →
scitchetknits: My mother-in-law bought us a quesadilla maker for Christmas.  We tried it for the first time tonight.  This is the impromptu recipe I came up with based on the ingredients we had.  I was slightly apprehensive, but it was soooooooooooooooooooooooo goooooooooooooooooooooood! 8 tortillas lots of grated cheese one can of Rotel (or salsa, but we were out of salsa) fresh...

Sticky Notes: All-in-One Tree at Mom's Funeral →
ancestry-stickynotes: My Mom always got excited every time I found a new relative or ancestor, so I decided to display the family tree at her funeral wake last summer, soon after she turned 90. The night before the wake I printed an all-in-one tree, which was at least 12 feet long. It took a few hours to tape 50+ the pages together so it was logical and readable. It was displayed on two long...

imaaxy answered your question: Icelandic or Finnish? you can learn um both in a year you will speak both! I will eventually learn both.  I do however, want a decent amount of fluency, so it will take me WAY more than six months for each one.  It took three years of total immersion for me to be fluent in German… I can learn computer languages in a flash, spoken languages take a lot longer.

Icelandic or Finnish?
The husband unit and I keep saying we are going to learn them.  We have at least one course for each (book and cds).  I am definitely going to start one of them. The question is which one? Icelandic would be easier because it is Germanic and I once was fluent in German.  We also have a visit to Iceland in our five year plan. Finnish would be cool because Craig is Finnish.  His grandmother still...

The Kindle Daily Deal is my new weakness
At least it is a $2 weakness and not a $20 weakness. Also, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to read all of the books on my kindle.

the-metres-gained: Why is it I always get the greatest desire to learn things late at night when my body and brain are too worn out to handle it? When I have the energy I can’t focus, when I can focus I don’t have the energy. There have actually been studies about the not being able to focus when you have energy (I also have this problem).  The general suggestions include having a background...

We got an albino corn snake on Saturday (he is currently unnamed).  We fed him today for the first time. It was freaking awesome! I will have to post a video next week. It is like birth in reverse, and he/she/it does it once a week at least.

The Semester Starts Today
Which means I’ll be back to the grindstone after four weeks off.  :-( I love my students, but I could really do the kept woman thing. This week is the week of shpeell:  It is okay, you can do this, I will be firm yet caring, Algebra really isn’t that scary, honest:  you can do this, etc.  Next week I’ll get to have fun.

Heart Disease Sucks
With so much media coverage of breast cancer it is easy to forget how much more deadly heart disease is.  I forget anyway. February 3rd is National Wear Red Day. There is also a Healthy Heart Handbook for Women. While breast cancer is treatable, heart disease is often preventable! Take care of your hearts tumblr people.
